Our Teen Water Safety Days are designed to be the beginning of a journey, not the end of one.

Every young person who takes part is offered the opportunity to continue developing their swimming and water confidence, with pathways into recognised aquatic qualifications including swimming teaching, lifeguarding and water safety education. From there, we want to open doors to employment, leadership and the opportunity to volunteer abroad through The Darcey Sunshine Foundation’s international programmes.

For a young person who may never have imagined themselves as a swimmer, a teacher, a lifeguard, or travelling overseas to use their skills to help others, these opportunities can be transformational.

We want young people to step beyond their comfort zones, discover what they are capable of and challenge their own beliefs about what their future could look like. Along the way, they build confidence, resilience, independence, leadership skills and a sense of purpose, while gaining qualifications and experiences that can create genuine opportunities for their future.

It’s about using the water as a vehicle to broaden horizons and change what feels possible.

But creating these pathways takes investment. Donations allow us to remove the financial barriers to swimming development, training, qualifications and life-changing experiences, ensuring that opportunity isn’t determined by a young person’s circumstances.

Your support doesn’t just teach a young person how to be safer around water. It could change the direction of their life.
